EDUCATION WING UPDATE & INVITATION:
Help us cover the cost of the new furnishings in our Ed. Wing!
Updating work on the upper level of our Education Wing is nearly complete! In recent weeks, our staff has been busy making and receiving orders of new furnishings for the Ed. Wing and we’re inviting you to consider making a special gift to help cover the cost of these new items! The new furnishings will help complete this important project and we’ve already purchased them in order to be “move-in ready” when the work is done. With each passing week, the kids of McCabe are getting more and more excited to move back into their “new” rooms and we fully understand their excitement!
As we’ve shared in prior communications about our Education Wing Update, the bulk of the funding for the project itself was money we’d already set aside for this purpose or money that we had generously donated toward it.
A comprehensive, digital document detailing the project has been emailed out to Pastor Karl’s weekly email list and, if you haven’t seen it yet, we’d happily send it to you. In this newsletter, we want to update you on a couple of furnishings-related items for this project: lounge chairs for the Wesley Room (E-11, “the Library”) and our mural preservation. As pictured above, we now have 4 blue club chairs that will be the main feature of a new lounge-seating area in the Wesley Room. (The chairs cost approximately $345 each.)
We have also spent approximately $1,700 on mural preservation related to the murals that were on the upstairs walls. That money was spent on:
- Professional photo-preservation, so we now have a full image archive of the murals
- 35 (approx.) canvas prints of mural sections
Of the canvases we have ordered, 4 will be for the mid-level; you can see 2 of them on display in McCabe’s west entrance. The vast majority of the canvases will hang in 6 mini-galleries on the east hallway wall upstairs. The image to the left, here, approximates what one of these mini-galleries will look like; this gallery alone uses a section of the wall that is about 7 feet wide and 4 feet tall. (Generous donors have already given over $1,000 to support the mural preservation and we are so grateful.)
Our Ed. Wing furnishings budget is $40,000: we invite you to consider a gift to help support it!
This furnishings budget includes the items in this newsletter update ($1,370 thus far for new lounge seating for the Wesley Room and approx. $1,700 for mural preservation). This $40,000 also includes items shared in last month’s newsletter update and in other communications:
- $18,000 to furnish the upstairs children’s rooms (chairs, tables, area rugs, storage cabinets, bins, etc.)
- $21,000 to furnish the mid-level rooms (chairs, conference-style tables, additional lounge pieces for the Wesley Room, artificial greenery, etc.)
Check the display in the great hall for your opportunity to help cover furnishings for the Education Wing (e.g. “$70 for 1 children’s chair,” “240 for 1 children’s table,” “$345 for 1 area rug”)
